Hi!

We are Stacey, Jay & our Great Dane Tonka, from Ontario Canada. Currently living in Caye Caulker, Belize since November 2023. We both work online for ourselves, so we can really live anywhere as long as we have reliable internet. Our goal was to always live somewhere Tropical; escape the Canadian Winters that are far too long & miserable. Jay has been working online for 8 years or so, I was not online until Covid. It was an easy decision to make this dream happen faster once we were both online, so we didn’t waste too much time figuring out how to make it work!

Why Belize?

Belize is located just South of Mexico on the mainland, with hundreds of islands located along the Mezo American Reef: the 2nd largest barrier reef in the world. We have been visiting our friends on the island of Caye Caulker for 10 years & really fell in love with the quaint little sleepy island. The island is basically a giant sandbar on top of a limestone shelf. There is an incredible cave system underneath that has not been fully mapped yet! The beautiful crystal clear, lagoon blue waters are full of aquatic sea life, despite the dwindling coral reefs. You can see Spotted Eagle Rays, Caribbean Stingrays, Manatees, Dolphins, Nurse Sharks, and giant tarpon all in one day here! Caye Caulker is actually 2 islands defined by what is known as “The Split”, a now 40-50 foot wide channel between the main South Island & the newly developing North Island. With it’s laid-back, casual vibes, the island is like stepping back in time to old school Caribbean, like Barbados in the 60s, 70s as my Mother described. There are only a few cars, bunch of golf carts, and lots of people on bicycles or foot. It is only an hour ferry or 10 minute puddle jumper ride from the mainland. The International airport is only 4 hours from Toronto as well, so it’s easy for family/friends to visit!
